TWO FORMER DIRECTORS OF G.I.D.A CELEBRATED


The Operation Department and Project Development Department of the Ghana Irrigation Development has held appreciation ceremonies respectively for their former directors who had retired from active service in the Authority. This was in honour of their hard work, dedication and long service during their tenure of office as directors and as staff of the Authority. The ceremonies were held on various occasions in the conference room of the GIDA Head office in Accra. The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority Dr. Ben Vas Nyamadi who was the guest speaker during the former Director of the Operations Department Mr. James Akatse’s appreciation, stressed to all members of the department to leave a mark at the workplace and emulate the working life of their former director who has become a store of knowledge as he gave himself to training, learning and self-development over the past three decades when he was with the Authority and attained the position of Director. Mr. Akatse in a brief address bemoaned all the workers present at the ceremony to be patient, hardworking and learn special skills in addition to what they already possess in order to keep going when things get tough. He expressed his gratitude to the Department and Management of the Authority for the opportunity to serve in the capacity as a Director during his working life in GIDA and for the many other opportunities accorded him during his stay as a staff of the Authority. The former Director of the Project Development Department, Ing Simon Apio who was also celebrated and appreciated couldn’t hide his joy as he was overwhelmed by the ceremony and almost shed tears. The Deputy Chief Executive, Engineering of GIDA, Ing. Wilson Darkwa who read the citation presented to Ing. Simon Apio encouraged all to put in all their knowledge and skills together to make GIDA a better place now and for the future. Both Former Directors took home electrical appliances and other parcel of gifts.
