Thirty graduates have successfully graduated in the greenhouse training program. The second batch of the Greenhouse Capacity Building Course graduation ceremony took place on 13th April, 2017 at the Training School on Dawhenya Irrigation Scheme. The Dep. Minister who read the speech on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture said that the project is in line with the Governmentâ€™s policy of Plant for Food and job Program. He further stated that the greenhouse technology ensures security for crop production and the Youth in Agriculture program will take advantage of the program as it will bring them both revenue and good yield. He also mentioned that the government has plans to link the graduates to financial institutions to set them up. One person Dzigbordzi Kanga, an Assistant Engineer from GIDA was part of the training. There are plans to establish a similar training school at Ohaw in the Volta Region and Libga in the Northern Region. In attendance were the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. William Agyapong Baidoo, Chief Executive of GIDA, Dr. Ben Vas Nyamadi, Mr. Kwadwo Adu, HRDMD/ MOFA, Mr. Ofer Tamir, Agritop Managing Director and Mr. Erwin Lendler Agronomist Agritop. Some Officers of GIDA who also took part in the ceremony were Mr. Samuel Dekyi DCE Scheme Oversight, Ing. Stephen Maclean Director Development, Mr. Chris Ferutah-Benee Director Scheme Oversight, Ing Kofi Modzaka Deputy Director Development, Mr. Benedictus Agbeko Scheme Manager, Dawhenya and Mr. Richard Agbavor Senior Accountant GIDA.
