Fifteen staff of the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority comprising of four departments have undergone two weeks intensive training on bankable proposals. The two week training was held from the 16th to 29th July, 2016 at the GIDA Head Office Conference Room in Accra and organized by the Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Evaluation department of the Authority, in collaboration with Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (ACDI/VOCA) The training serves as a capacity building for the staff in preparation of concept papers and proposals. ACDI/VOCA is a Farmer- to â€“Farmer Program that provides voluntary technical assistance from US citizens in contributing to international development efforts to improve the lives of small farmer families in developing and transitional countries. Some key objectives of the training among others is to gain an awareness of the concepts and practices that form the basis of a public- private partnership and that can ensure that a public-partnership can be managed for success, to know what should be written and included in proposals and concepts, to develop a technical proposal and a cost proposal and how to develop a performance management program. Mr. Edward Y. Uechi is the trainer who took the staff through the entire program and awarded the participants with certificates.
