GIDA MANAGEMENT



The day to day administration of the Authority is wheeled by Section 6(1) of NRCD 85 as amended.� This is entrusted into the hands of the Chief Executive, aided by two Deputy Chief Executives, one in charge of Engineering and the other Agronomy.

  • DEPARTMENTS

    1. Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Evaluation  

  • Short to medium and long term planning
  • Update of the Authority�s irrigation development policies
  • Execution of both local and external training programmes
  • Co-ordination of annual budgets preparation and studies of new and existing projects, including special studies
  • Monitoring and evaluation activities within the Authority


    PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

    2. This Department is responsible for the following:  

  • Engineering aspects of existing and new projects
  • Engineering surveys and design of works
  • Construction supervision of all GIDA projects


    PROJECT OPERATIONS

    3. This department is responsible for the following:  

  • Operation and management of GIDA schemes.
  • Agronomic studies of existing, new and special projects.
  • Co-ordination of farming activities on all schemes at the field level.
  • Resolution of problems emanating from the operation and maintenance of schemes.
  • Training of technical staff and irrigation farmers on project management.
  • Assessment and Supervision for collection of Irrigation Service Charges

    FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

    4. The department is responsible for the following:  

  • General administration
  • Stores management
  • Transport services
  • Public relations
  • Accounts and secretarial services etc.
